We have tall, tippy, more stylish ones for showy dinner parties, that require hand washing. These, in contrast, not only fit the hand well, but also the top shelf of the dishwasher, and after countless cycles they are still shiny (not acquiring the "foggy" etched surface that all of our previous glasses did). This purchase was to replace broken glasses and to expand the collection. The size is an acceptable compromise for red and white wines, but we prefer the Reidel Ouverture Magnums for reds. They too have proven to be dishwasher durable. Big mistake. These turned out to be cheap appearing, light weight, almost plastic-like glasses. Now I realize, wine glasses are one of those things that you need to hold in your hands before buying. If you go just by the description and review by others, you are going to be disappointed. <br /> <br />But I have to say, returning the item back to Amazon was so easy. I have been an Amazon customer for almost 8 years.
