my current (well expired) Norton's was going to cost me more than it did last year (almost 60 bucks and it was only $49.99 last year) so I came here to see if I could save a little money and I did! I was a little afraid to download it at first because I saw that it might only work until Dec 2010, but I took the chance anyway because my subscription expired today. Well, after the successful download, I copied down the Product Key, I did the upgrade via the "renew now" tab on my current (expired) Norton's, and it gave me 366 days! Yes! And it was less than 40 bucks so I'm happy about that. I only did this review in case someone else is in the same situation I was in tonight - afraid to download it! :) It's all good.</p> <p> <span class="reviewtitle">I agree with WifeyGirl</span> <br>I was torn between renewing my subscription through the retailer, or switching products to save money. I'm glad I searched on Amazon and read Wifey's review. This online purchase is the same exact thing for almost half the price. What is Norton thinking? They need to cut their prices in this economy if they want people to keep buying/renewing direct from them. It almost makes me regret staying with them, but I didn't want to waste the time uninstalling this product from my computers to make space for a whole new software program. <br /> <br />Anyway, with the product code from this purchase, the renewal is a done deal in 1 minute flat.</p> <p> <span class="reviewtitle">Great Product</span> <br>I have used Norton as my virus protection for quite a few years and prefer Norton over McAfee. As a matter of fact my new laptop that came with a 30 day trial of McAfee just got replaced with this Norton download. This virus scan easily found and deleted 3 viruses I had on my PC and I was pleasantly pleased with the speed in which it performed this total task. Norton offers free backup online with this software too. Buying this from Amazon saved close to half off verses buying direct from Norton's website. Gotta love Amazon! Download time is minimal if you aren't using dialup. Only took about 10 minutes for my PC which is on DSL. Laptop took a little longer due to wireless connection, but still only about 15 minutes.
